More than 700 years ago, the first stone of the university halls of KU Leuven was laid. Even today, this impressive 11 000 m2 building plays a crucial role in the university. Not only does it contain the rectorate, auditoria and celebrations hall, … , every new student is registered in this building. It is heated using a combination of massive cast iron radiators and since more recently also using fan coil units. The required heat is produced by four massive gas boilers.
