WZC Ter Meeren is a modern care home in Flemish Brabant. Its sustainable HVAC system was designed by Boydens engineering, part of Sweco at the request of Woonzorgnet Dijleland. The building is heated and cooled using underfloor heating, each room is controlled individually using a 6-way valve. The heat and cold are produced by two geothermal heat pumps connected to a field of 27 boreholes. The geothermal heat pumps are assisted by two air-to-water heat pumps that avoid thermal imbalances in the borefield. Two air handling units with heat recovery provide the required ventilation.
In this project, Builtwins was involved since the construction phase and MPC immediately optimised the control of the HVAC once construction was completed.
